Step into daily life on the Texian frontier. Wash a bandana the old fashioned way, learn how traditional medicines were made, and try on frontier clothing at the self serve dress up station. These hands-on activities show the simple skills that helped communities thrive.

Fandango Music and Dance

• The Fandango is all about music and dance, filling the plaza with energy and tradition. Zach and Rachel Dance team up with the Tejas Pioneers to lead the Virginia Reel, a lively folk dance where partners weave in and out of lines to spirited fiddle tunes. Guests can cheer, clap along, or step right into the dance.
• Danzas Folkloricas de Solei captivate with vibrant costumes and graceful footwork, bringing the color and rhythm of folklorico to life.
• Mariachi Luna Llena from Rice University lifts the spirit of the crowd with the joyful sounds of mariachi, honoring the rich Mexican heritage woven into Texas history.

Bay Area Weavers and Spinners

• Artisans will spin, weave, knit, and crochet right before your eyes, transforming yarn and thread into clothing and household goods. These demonstrations bring to life the skills that kept frontier families warm and supplied with everyday essentials.
