Don’t miss Battleship Texas’ night of patriotic sparkle and fun as she lights up the sky to honor our nation’s history. The legendary Battleship Texas will launch the Island’s America 250 festivities, Friday, July 3rd with a dazzling drone display, gun turret salutes and fireworks show from the Port of Galveston.
Battleship Texas was decommissioned and commemorated as a museum and memorial on April 21st, 1948 – the day the Texas Republic won its independence 112 years before. Seven decades later and Battleship Texas still stands as mighty as the State for which she is named, and a symbol of US naval power.
