The Lyons Avenue Renaissance Festival brings thousands of residents and visitors together each year to experience the art, culture, and energy of Houston’s 5th Ward. With live performances, family activities, and cultural traditions at its core, the festival creates meaningful opportunities for connection, celebration, and community pride.
The festival takes place right on Lyons Avenue between Gregg Street and Benson Street.

I have attended this event twice. Kids were excited to collect the plastic eggs dropped from the helicopter, bounce on trampolines, and make crafts. Meanwhile, I was immersed in the electrifying street dance battle! The dancers’ movements ignited the stage, with every rhythm expressing a pure love for the music that was truly contagious. The natural rhythm of the dancers made the energy skyrocket.
There were also traditional dances and ballet performances that showcased impressive skill and left me in awe.
One tip: Parking can be challenging, so I recommend arriving early to secure a spot.
